As a first step towards designing your gadget, you need to create a new gadget defining the gadget type and assigning user groups to whom you intend to give access to the new gadget. Creating a new gadget involves defining the gadget properties (gadget type, gadget name and description) and then proceeding to assign values/parameters to the gadget. Values (parameters) assigned to the gadget defines the business logic of the process that the gadget implements or executes.
To create a new gadget, use the procedure outlined below:
1.On the Task Bar, click on Setup.
2.From Manage, click on Gadgets.
3.From the top left corner, click the Create
a gadget of new type icon (
).
This will create a Gadget of new type. The following screen displays.

4.In Step 1, enter the name and the description of the gadget that you are creating.
5.In Step 2, enter the type of the gadget that you are creating. For example, OpenBOX comes with some pre-defined gadget types like queries, reports, link options and notes. Similarly suppose you want a gadget type that displays a graphical report of new accounts, you can define your gadget type to be Graphical Report or anything that suitably describes your gadget property best.
6.In Step 3, select a user group from the dropdown combo box to whom you would like to give access to this gadget.
7.In Step 4, select the tables from the Available Tables list for which this particular gadget will be available. To set the tables that would display this particular gadget, Add your selected tables to the Selected Tables list. For every table that you would like to add, you will have to repeat the process.
8.Click OK to save your gadget. A new gadget will be created and saved. The new gadget saves with the default parameters. To modify these parameters and assign your own values to the gadget, see Section on defining and modifying parameters.

Tip:While selecting the tables (Step 4), you can Add or Remove all tables by clicking AddAll or RemovAll buttons respectively
